Issues Accessing RingCentral
Most RingCentral connection issues can be resolved by simply re-booting your computer. If that does not work, you may be having trouble as a result of using a work computer which connects to the internet using a VPN (Virtual Private Network) or a result of the computer firewall set to prevent access to certain sites.
If your computer is using a VPN, simply turn it off for the duration of the course.
To solve firewall issues, you must add the IP address 66.81.240.0/20 to the allowable list.
The following instructions show how to add the necessary IP address for computers using the Windows Defender Firewall. If using a different firewall, the steps will have to be modified for your system. If using a work computer, you may need to contact your IT department for assistance.
How to Add RingCentral IP Address in Windows Firewall
1. On the Start menu, Click ‘Windows Firewall with Advanced Security’.
2. Click the ‘Advanced settings’ option in the sidebar.
3. On the left side, click the option ‘Inbound Rules’.
4. On the right, under the section ‘Actions’, click on the option ‘New Rule’. Windows Firewall
shows you the New Inbound Rule Wizard…
5. A new window will open and Select the ‘custom rule’ option and click Next.
6. In the left-hand side again, go to the option ‘Scope’.

Audio Issues
If you are unable to hear audio, or turn on your microphone while in a RingCentral meeting, try the following:
Step 1: On the left hand side of the RingCentral Meeting controls, if you see the “Join Audio icon” , click on the headphone icon. If you see a microphone icon, go directly to step 4.
Step 2: In the resulting pop-up window, there are two tabs. Choose the Computer Audio tab
Step 3: In the resulting pop-up window, choose Join with Computer Audio

Step 4: If the Microphone icon has a red line through it , click on the icon to Unmute. If you still cannot hear or be heard, go to Step 5
Step 5: Click on the chevron (arrow) to the right of the Microphone icon. If you have more than one microphone or speaker on your computer (e.g. you are using a headset instead of the built in computer speaker), make sure the microphone and speaker you are using is selected. If you are still unable to hear or be heard, go to Step 6

Step 6: If after ensuring that the the audio settings are current you still cannot hear or be heard, you may switch to Phone Audio instead of Computer Audio. To do so, in the above menu, select the option to “Switch to Phone Audio….”
Step 7: In the resulting pop-up menu, use your phone to dial the phone number that is local to your area. When prompted, enter the Meeting ID and Participant ID in the pop up menu
