Experience: Kiron has over twenty-five years of experience in traditional and agile project management, having managed multiple mid-to-large-sized projects. He has setup and managed Project Management Offices (PMO) and has provided project portfolio management and project management consulting services to over a hundred clients across multiple industries.
Kiron is an active member of the Project Management Institute (PMI)® since 1999, served as a volunteer director on the Board of the PMI Lakeshore Chapter for six years and currently serves as one of the volunteer community moderators for PMI’s Project, Program and Portfolio Management LinkedIn discussion group.
Kiron has published articles on project and project portfolio management in both project management and industry-specific journals. He has delivered over a hundred webinars and has presented at multiple conferences. Kiron has been blogging weekly about project management since 2009. His blog has been frequently recognized in top fifty project management blog rankings, and in 2019 Kiron was recognized as one of the top 130 project management influencers. In January 2021, Kiron published his first book, titled “Easy in Theory, Difficult in Practice – 100 lessons in project leadership”.
Kiron has contributed to many of PMI’s recent standards and practice guides including the PMBOK Guide®, Seventh Edition, the PMBOK Guide®, Sixth Edition and the Standard for Risk Management in Portfolios, Programs and Projects. He was also invited by PMI in 2019 to participate in their Ask the Expert sessions at their Global Conference.
Strengths: Having helped to improve project delivery capabilities for companies spanning multiple industries and sizes, Kiron brings a pragmatic value-focused approach to methodology and governance. He is a highly energetic, articulate and enthusiastic facilitator having trained hundreds of professionals over the past decade on a variety of project management topics. Kiron has used the decision making framework of Disciplined Agile to help multiple clients tailor their delivery approaches to better fit the context of their projects.
Education: Kiron holds a Bachelor of Computer Science (Honors) from Concordia University, an MBA from McGill University and a Master’s Certificate in Information Technology Project Management from George Washington University. Kiron has been a Project Management Professional (PMP)® since 2000, received his PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP)® certification in 2011 and his PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)® certification in 2017. Kiron also earned the Certified Disciplined Agile Practitioner (CDAP) and Certified Discipline Agile Instructor (CDAI) credentials from the Disciplined Agile Consortium (now part of PMI) in 2016. Kiron was the first certified Disciplined Agile Lean Scrum Master from PMI (now DASSM) in early 2020. Kiron also holds the Professional Scrum Master Level 2 (PSM II) and Certified Agile coach (ICP-ACC) designations.
