For as long as many of us can remember, booking and taking a PMI credential exam has been done through Prometric. Last April we wrote how PMI has partnered with Pearson VUE, a global leader in computer-based testing, and how the PMI-ACP and CAPM exams were the first to be available through Pearson VUE.
As of July 1, 2019, the transition is now complete. Going forward, all PMI credential exams, including the PMP exam, are booked and available through Pearson VUE. With over 5,600 test centers around the world, this is good news, especially for those living outside large cities.
As an example, prior to July 1st, clients of World Class Productivity (WCP) in the Greater Sudbury Area had to travel over three hours to write their PMP exams. With a Pearson VUE location in the Greater Sudbury Area, that will no longer be necessary.
You can now write the PMI-ACP and CAPM exam in your PJ’s!

Related to the move to Pearson VUE, the CAPM or PMI-ACP credential exams can now be taken from the comfort of your own home or office.
To do so, you will need:
- A computer with a webcam
- A reliable internet connection
- A quiet space without interruption
When signing up for the exam, when it comes time to pay for the exam on the PMI site, select the option for “Online Proctored Test”. When you then select the option to “schedule Exam”, you will be directed to the Pearson VUE site where you will be able to choose your date and time. Will PMI allow other exams, perhaps even the PMP exam, to be written from home in the future? That’s hard to know. If they do, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
As for whether or not you write the exams in your PJ’s, well that’s up to you…
