Choosing the training & consulting provider that is right for you.
Training or consulting is an investment. As with any investment, you want to be sure it will yield results. With all the external options available, how do you determine the right provider and courses for you and your organization?
Proven History
Since 1995, WCP has been developing and delivering some of the most popular and successful project management and agile courses available. Combined, these courses have provided learning for over 10,000 participants.
How does WCP consistently get it right? We listen to our customers, develop the courses our customers say they need and we inspect and adapt these courses based on their feedback. We then have our courses facilitated by some of the best project management and agile professionals available.
At WCP we believe that putting thirty or more people in a class does not make for effective learning. We therefore keep our class sizes small (usually under twenty people depending on the session) so that all participants are fully engaged.
Our courses also minimize “lecture” time, in order to maximize interactive discussions and group exercises. Group exercises are based on realistic scenarios carefully designed to demonstrate the nuances we encounter when practicing agile and project management.
Our three day Project Management Essentials workshop is believed to be the longest continuously running project management course in Canada. With over 12,000 participants of this course to date, it is also one of the most popular project management courses available in Canada!
Our Talent
At WCP we are very proud of our associates which is why we feature associate profiles on our website and in our literature. All of our associates are project management professionals (PMPs) that have had highly successful careers as hands-on project managers. They also have many years experience providing adult education, as well as project management consulting and coaching services. They are passionate, inspiring and consistently provide excellent results – why wouldn’t we want to show them off?
Our team also includes instructional design experts to ensure our custom courses meet the highest standards of adult education.
University Affiliations
From 2000 – 2016, WCP was the primary supplier of professional level daytime project management training at the University of Toronto. During that time, we delivered hundreds of fundamental to advanced level workshops helping thousands of course participants achieve their project management career goals (Note: our University of Toronto courses are now available at both our Toronto and Mississauga locations).
For the past eighteen years, we have also been the primary provider of professional level daytime project management and agile training at the University of Waterloo, where we currently offer multiple fundamental to advanced workshops.
These workshops may be taken standalone or as part of one of three University of Waterloo project management and advanced agile certificates.
Thought Leadership
In 2000, WCP was the first to develop a Project Sponsorship course: a 1-day course specifically for senior managers and their critical role in the successful implementation of projects.
In 2001 we introduced a 2-day Juggling Multiple Projects course (also known as Taking Charge of Multiple Projects) which we believe to have been the first of its kind in Canada.
Often imitated – never duplicated – these courses remain very popular with our clients to this day.
Publishing newsletters, participation in professional forums and conferences, strategic partnerships, highly personal service, and innovative courses and learning methods – these are just a few examples of how WCP has led the project management and agile training industry in both quality and innovation.
Industry Involvement
Our consultants are frequently asked to speak at project management conferences and participate expert panels hosted by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and Project World. Several of our associates are credited with having contributed to several versions of the Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK Guide), and the President of WCP, was the Canadian representative for the international PMI Registered Education Provider (R.E.P.) Advisory Group from 2014 to 2016.
Focus
While all project management and agile courses which WCP offers enable participants to earn Professional Development Units (PDUs), at WCP our primary focus is to provide clients with the type of hands-on training that yields tangible benefits where it really counts – on their projects.
Our three day Project Management Essentials course, for example, is designed to provide participants with the most essential tools and skills of project management – to provide clarity among stakeholders, improve the accuracy of estimates, reduce – not create – stress, and make a noticeable difference on actual projects.
It is this very tangible value that has helped make the Project Management Essentials course one of the longest continuously offered, fundamental three day project management courses in Canada.
It is this same tangible value we bring to all our courses.
